Recognition should begin with understanding the work. Public nominations and direct research may both identify contributions worth considering. Established reputation does not replace evidence, verification or approval.
The intended review process considers contribution, sustained effort, evidence and context. Reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest and step aside where appropriate. Sponsors must not be able to purchase selection or influence outcomes through payment.
The proposed sequence is intake or research, eligibility review, evidence verification, conflict review, panel assessment, approval where required, acceptance and publication consent, then presentation and public profile.
Panel membership, decision powers, quorum, record retention and correction procedures need to be established before this becomes an operating process.
Recognition involving children requires appropriate guardian consent, consideration of the young person's wishes and careful limits on published personal information. Direct submissions from children are not open.
Posthumous recognition requires historical care. A profile or tribute must not imply family or estate endorsement without permission.
People's Choice is planned as a separate future release. Its voting rules and verification process will be published before participation begins. It will not determine the Laureate distinction.
Raise a question. Ask for a correction.
